COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

We are excited to welcome you back to the mountain! A lot has changed since last season, but our commitment to providing the ultimate guest experience and Pure Mountain Fun remains the same. Guests can escape to the beautiful surroundings of Bear Valley, experience an adventure-filled day on the slopes, enjoy delicious food and beverage options and rest and relax in cozy accommodations, all while knowing that their health and safety is top priority.

The 2020/21 season will look a little different than what we are used to, but we are confident that we will be able to deliver a safe and enjoyable winter experience for all. Bear Valley is the perfect destination to safely enjoy the outdoors, just as Mother Nature intended.

Our team has been working hard to implement new protocols in order to ensure the health and safety of our guests, team members and community. All Federal, State and County health guidelines will be followed. Here are a few of the changes you can expect:

  • Face coverings are required in all buildings on resort property, as well as in chairlift lines and while riding the chairlift. It is strongly recommended that guests also keep their faces covered while walking around the resort property.
  • Physical distancing measures will be in effect in all areas of the resort, both indoors and outdoors. Guests must maintain a distance of 6ft from anyone outside of their family/social pod.
  • 50% reduced capacities inside day lodges, locker rooms, rentals, retail stores, bathrooms and other indoor facilities.
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitization practices are in place resort wide.
  • Frequent disinfecting of high touch point areas.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the resort.
  • Contact tracing will be conducted daily for guests and team members.

  • 50% reduced capacities inside day lodges, locker rooms, rentals, retail stores, bathrooms and other indoor facilities.
  • Indoor breaks will be limited to a maximum of 15 minutes.
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitization practices are in place resort wide.
  • Frequent disinfecting of high touch point areas.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the resort.
  • Daily health and wellness checks are mandatory for all team members. Please stay home if you are not feeling well, are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, are at high-risk or have been in close proximity with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Contact tracing will be conducted daily for guests and team members.

  • Physical distancing markers will be in place in queueing area.
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitization practices are in place, with frequent disinfecting of high touch point areas.
  • Touch-­free payment methods will be used whenever possible and heavily encouraged.
  • A one-­way traffic system will be used, entering through the front door and exiting onto the lower breezeway deck area.
  • Physical distancing measures will be in effect. Guests must maintain a distance of 6ft from anyone outside of their family/social pod.
  • Physical distancing markers will be in place in queueing area.
  • Team members will take extra precautions when interacting with guests and will be equipped with the appropriate PPE if close contact is required.
  • Team members will no longer provide physical assistance to guests for boot fitting. If assistance is absolutely necessary, team members will wear the appropriate PPE in accordance with local county guidelines and will follow proper cleaning and hygiene protocol.
  • All equipment rented will be cleaned and sanitized upon return.
  • Wrist guards, gloves and goggles will not be available to rent during the 2020/21 season.
  • Face coverings are required at all times.
  • Only one person allowed per seat, unless you are with your family/social pod.
  • Every other row will be empty to allow adequate space for physical distancing.
  • Regular disinfecting of surfaces will take place between trips up and down the mountain.
  • Sanitizer will be available to all passengers and used upon entry.
  • Food options in the main cafeteria will be Grab & Go only.
  • Outdoor food and beverage venues will be available.
  • All kitchen staff will be gloved and masked during food preparation, while adhering to physical distancing guidelines.
  • Extra care will be taken in regards to sanitizing high touch point areas such as fridge door handles, cooler door handles, table tops and kitchen utensils.
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitization of tables, benches, counter tops, doors, POS terminals, bathrooms, etc. will take place.
  • Touch-free payment is strongly encouraged.
  • Reservations for indoor seating will not be available for the 2020/21 season.
  • All seating will be set up to maintain physical distancing requirements.
  • All condiments and utensils will be removed from public areas and issued by a team member in service seating areas.
  • Face coverings are required in chairlift lines and while riding the chairlift. It is strongly recommended that guests also keep their faces covered while walking around the resort property.
  • Physical distancing measures will be in effect in chairlift lines and while riding the chairlift.
  • All guests and team members are required to wear gloves when riding the chairlift.
  • There will be reduced capacity on all chairlifts in order to allow for physical distancing.
  • At this time, reservations are not needed for lift access, but daily lift ticket sales may be limited in an effort to reduce on hill capacity.
  • Guests are encouraged to use their vehicles as their basecamp this season in order to reduce capacity indoors. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to spend more time outside this winter.
  • Face coverings are required in chairlift lines and while riding the chairlift.
  • Lift Operators are required to wear a face covering and gloves at all times.
  • Physical distancing measures will be in effect in chairlift lines and while riding the chairlift.
    • 6 pack: maximum of 3 riders per chair (solo or within the same family/social pod)
    • 4 pack: maximum of 2 riders per chair (solo or within the same family/social pod)
    • 3 pack: maximum of 1 solo rider per chair or 2 riders if from the same family/social pod
    • 2 pack: maximum of 1 solo rider per chair or 2 riders if from the same family/social pod
  • All guests and team members are required to wear gloves when riding the chairlift.
  • All ski and snowboard lessons will operate in accordance with state and local health and safety operating procedures.
  • The Ticket Office/Snow Sports will manage contact tracing of all lessons, with full names of guests, contact details, time of lesson and the instructor.
  • Lesson sizes will be smaller in order to ensure adequate physical distancing.
  • All lessons must be booked in advance for the 2020/21 season.
  • Face coverings and gloves are mandatory for students and instructors at all times.
  • Physical distancing of 3 feet must be maintained during the lesson.
  • Instructors will carry PPE to use for close contact, however close contact should be avoided if possible.
  • The bathrooms in the Snow Sports area will be cleaned frequently.

Due to the nature of the pandemic, policies and procedures are subject to change. We will continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations set forth by Federal, State and County health officials. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone not complying with our company ethos and COVID-19 safety protocols.
