Sledding

 

Local SnoParks

The California Department of Parks and Recreation operates SNO-PARK sites that provide snow-cleared parking lots with sanitation facilities and access to snow play areas, cross-country ski and snowmobile trails. Please call the SNO-PARKS hotline at (916) 324 -1222 for more information.

Lake Alpine SNOPARK, is located on Highway 4 just past the turnoff to Bear Valley Mountain. This SNOPARK provides access to the groomed trail along Highway 4 to Highland Lakes, as well as a network of marked and unmarked cross-country ski routes.

Spicer Reservoir Road, is located approximately 1/4 mile from Highway 4. This SNOPARK provides access to a 15 mile network of groomed trails to Spicer, Union and Utica Reservoirs.

Parking permits are required at all SNOPARKs. Daily ($5) and Seasonal ($25) SNOPARK permits are available from many local vendors (see SNO-PARK Vendors List).

Bear Valley Cross Country Sledding Hill

The sledding area is for all ages (3 & up) and features a fun variety of gentle to moderate hills. The area is a short walk from the Trailhead via a packed trail. We think that kids and adults alike will enjoy this adventure area. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Only BVCC rental sleds will be allowed in the area. No other sleds, tubes, etc. are permitted.
