Hiking doesn’t have to stop in the winter. If you enjoy visiting wild places you’ll be thrilled to know that snowshoeing can be a fun, energizing and beautiful way to experience the marvels of backcountry winters. The relative ease of snowshoeing allows folks to venture into the winter wilderness without the required years of ski and snowboard training. Â Let MAS guide you efficiently and comfortably through spectacular winter scenery and experience for yourself the thrills of backcountry snowshoeing.
Add some pizazz to your winter and visit Bear Valley for this fun and challenging backcountry snowshoe adventure. Stomp across snow covered ridges and bowls and soak in the splendors of the alpine environment. Along the way your guide will share natural history and backcountry travel tips. This trip typically covers 4-6 miles through a variety of terrain in a non-motorized area along the Mokelumne Wilderness. The vistas are world-class so don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore a winter wonderland with MAS.

We’ll offer two different courses of vertical challenges for novice and advanced racers. We’re broadening this “randonee” race to include all hedonists: alpine tourers, telemarkers and splitboarders.
Join us in the spectacular Cathedral Lounge for an opportunity to taste award-winning local wines. Murphys’ climate closely imitates the superb wine regions in France and produces some of the best wines in the state. Come meet the wine makers, learn how wine styles are created, and the unique characteristics of Calaveras County wines. Cozy fireplace and wine…the perfect pairing. FREE to season pass holders (21+). $5 non-pass holders. Money will go towards the adaptive program
