Final Countdown (04/10/12)

With only 5 days remaining for the season – I wanted to reach out and personally thank you all for the  75,000 visits you made to BV this winter, to those who would normally generate the other  55,000 visits, we missed you & believe it or not you missed some great skiing/riding, as well as a season for the history books.  I  hope you have not given up the sport and will return next season.

For years I have discussed with my boss that one of the many things that’s unique about our business is there is no such thing as a normal or average season.  Still that’s what we all strive for, plan for, hope for and budget for – just a normal or average season, that’s all we want!  So what’s normal – if you take last years 567” and this years 200” we’re are right on track for being average.

So I guess average would be a snowcat in the middle someplace!

So much fun today. The conditions this morning were great. Then the music and beer tasting (to support Sierra Hope) with the great scenery of Bear Valley was perfect. Watching everyone have a great time, I couldn’t help but think how nice it would be if the deck next to the saloon was regularly setup with tables and had some music playing on non-event days or weekends. When my legs are done for day, the rest of me is in no rush to leave.

See you tomorrow for the last day of the season.

    Jim,
I am sorry BV had a rough winter with attendance so far below previous years. However, as a first time season ticket holder, I wanted to let you know we still had one of the best seasons of family skiing ever. My 5 and 8 year olds are hooked! We love your mountain (I have been skiing Bear for over 30 years) and have already renewed our passes. The lift operators were great with my kids, the employees always do their best to meet our needs, and surprisingly (given the less than ideal winter) the conditions were very nice. I would of course loved to ski the Griz, but had a lot of fun poking around in areas I probably would not have (like the terrain park and such at 39 years old). Keep up the great work, and we are looking forward to another great year next year.

The season may have started out slowly and there were fits and starts in the middle, but March had some epic pow pow days!

This was my first year as a passholder and will be renewing this month!

We’re part of the 55,000 potential visits not making it this year and we missed coming. My husband was uninspired by the snow reports although I heard and read on the blog how well the staff compensated for the low snow fall. I love coming bcze I enjoy the x-country and my boys enjoy the downhill. Is the lodge getting updated soon? The last time we stayed there our bed was broken! Them there’s those thin walls…

Jim, lost in those 75,000 visits are the many happy memories for my family and I. Both of my kids made fantastic strides thanks to the great coaching in the Devo program. I had great days of skiing with friends almost every weekend. Snow didn’t shine, but you guys did a wonderful job with what you had. Keep up the good work… we’ll see you next year.

  6. Biju says:

Thanks for making all that snow early in the seaseon and keeping the mountian open. Since I had signed up two kids in the Devo team, I had concerns that BV may “close” till it snows, when mother nature was not co-oparting for an extended period of time.

Looks like the last weekend will be a good one!
