With the recent snowfall, Bear Valley Cross Country & Adventure Company is pleased to announce that a nice selection of groomed trails, including three new trails, will be open for snowshoeing and fat biking beginning on Friday, November 29, 2013. Due to the current minimal amount of snow, cross country skiing may, or may not, be part of the offering. The staff has made a tremendous effort this summer preparing the trails to be able to open with less snow than ever before, so trails could be skied on with as little as two or three additional inches of snow. According to today’s weather forecast, that is entirely possible by the Friday opening. The tubing facility will be open as well, sort of. Until we receive more snow, the tubing operation will be moved to Bear Valley Mountain, where they are making snow in preparation for a Saturday, November 30th, opening that will include the Polar Dash 5K/1K Fun Run, tubing and other activities.

Bear Valley Cross Country & Adventure Company is one of a handful of cross country areas inviting you to “Get Fat” this winter. Fat snow biking is an exciting new sport involving special fat bikes with 4 inch wide tires that allow them to be ridden on packed snow. Bear Valley Cross Country & Adventure Company has a size run of Surly Pugsley Fat Bikes available for rent by the hour, or for purchase.

The opening of Bear Valley Cross Country & Adventure Company’s trails coincides with Bear Valley Business Association’s annual Winterfest Celebration activities that include Wine Tasting in the Meadow, Wilderness Alliance Back Country Film Festival, bonfire, live music and multiple business open house celebrations.
